is a new program at Alleluia! in the fine arts. Our focus is on the child's creative self-expression through art in a constructive, relaxed, and fun atmosphere. Students will explore different types of art media, art styles, as well as famous artists and their work. They will be introduced to the basics of composition, values, colors, and most importantly, have a great time creating art.
Each child works at his/her own pace, receiving help and assistance as needed. As with all of our classes, we provide a loving, Christian environment, affirming and nourishing the whole child. We encourage excellence in a supporting and accepting atmosphere. Each session concludes with an Art Show displaying the works each student has created. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.
Merike Adams is a professional artist and educator with many years of teaching experience. She has taught in public schools, worked as an art instructor for a private enterprise, and is currently giving private art lessons in small groups. Merike believes that art contributes to the development of creativity and motor skills in young children, and that art is a great way of self expression for older children. Merike is a member of the Naperville Art League where she frequently shows her oil paintings. Furthermore, she has designed the sceneries for stage plays, and has participated several times in the Naperville United Way summer sculpture charity event with her mosaic projects.
Discounted Registration:
Alleluia! members may receive a $10 discount when they pay by cash or check at the church. Registration forms are in brochures at the Information Booth or drop by the church office.
A $5 discount is available for additional siblings. All discounted registration MUST be paid by cash or check and cannot be completed on-line.
Private art lessons are available through arrangement with the instructor.

Art Adventures/Story Time: Session 1 - NEW!!!, (ages 3-5)

This series of 8 classes (8/23-10/18) will focus on developing young children's creativity, motor skills and confidence in drawing, painting and sculpting. The children will learn how to handle art media, and will be introduced to colors, different media and techniques in art in a playful and fun atmosphere. Each lesson will begin with reading a story related to the lesson's theme. We will draw in pencil, colored pencil and crayon, we will paint, make a paper mosaic, use different materials with different textures for a collage and a sculpture, learn to make patterns, etc. The students will have a finished project at the end of each class. Parents are welcome to stay. Please dress students in clothing that may get stained. Members may deduct $10 when paying by cash or check. $5 sibling discount is available when paying by cash or check. Supply fee is included in the price. Each session will end with a Students' Art Show during the last week of the session. Please note that there will be no Monday class on Labor Day, Sept 6th.

Your student will learn about some famous artists and their drawings, take a closer look at good compostition and values in classical pencil drawing, will learn how to draw in charcoal, oil pastel, pen and ink, and will explore different drawing techniques.
